CQC Inspection 2019

CQC Inspection

We were recently inspected at short notice by CQC.

We are obviously very disappointed by the rating they have given Theale Medical Centre. As part of our mission to provide high quality care we are always appreciative of feedback on areas for development and improvement. As a whole practice we have reflected on the content of the report and have already made many changes which ensure patient safety.

CQC visited us whilst we were in the process of recruiting new administration staff. Prior to our inspection we had already identified some aspects of our administrative processes requiring improvement. We had interim processes in place to ensure continuous good, safe patient care, and we were designing a new comprehensive recall system for chronic diseases. This system is now in action. Unfortunately, this was delayed due to the timing of the short notice CQC inspection, which forced us to postpone interviews to recruit the necessary administrative staff we needed.

We have now have a fully staffed administrative team and are confident that we have a fantastic team who are working together to ensure the highest standards of patient care. We are confident that we have a robust and extremely effective administration system in place and that our processes are safe and well run.

We are very grateful to all our staff for how they have supported the practice through the CQC process and we have been overwhelmed by their positivity, team spirit and commitment to Theale Medical Centre. It is very important to us that staff feel supported in their roles and feel part of a cohesive team. We feel very positive about the future ahead with the excellent team we now have in place.

CQC rated us as good for responding to and meeting patient’s needs, which is an area extremely important to us.

We are also pleased that CQC recognised us as caring and that our staff treat patients with kindness, respect and compassion.

We remain committed to providing a high standard of patient care, in what is an extremely challenging time for the NHS.
