Total Triage FAQ

When does the new system start?

Our new triage appointment system starts on Monday 4th August 2025. From this date, please use the ‘Medical Queries’ form on our website if you need to request a GP appointment or urgent medical attention.

What if I don’t have internet access or cannot complete the form?

No problem. Our reception team can complete the form for you over the phone or in person.
The form is quick and simple – it asks similar questions to those we already ask when booking appointments.

Will I still have a designated GP I can book with?

Yes! Continuity of care is important to us.
You will continue to be offered routine appointments with your usual GP whenever possible.
For urgent issues, you may be seen by another clinician on the same day or if your GP is unavailable.

Do I need to register online to use the form?

No – you do not need to register.
The online form will be available to everyone via our website when the system goes live on 4th August 2025. You do not need to use the NHS App or create an account.

Do I need to use the online form to book nurse appointments?

No. For nurse and healthcare assistant and Pharmacist appointments, please continue to contact us in the usual way by phone or in person.

What if I don’t want to tell the receptionist what’s wrong? What about confidentiality?

We understand your concerns. Our medical receptionists are trained professionals and play a key role in your care.
They have access to your medical records and are bound by strict confidentiality rules, just like our clinical team.
The online form asks similar questions to those receptionists already ask to help direct your care appropriately.

Why are you changing the system – are you making it harder to get help?

Not at all. In fact, it’s the opposite.
This new system helps us make sure you are seen by the right clinician, at the right time.
It will also help reduce waiting times and improve access to GP appointments when needed.

What if I need to be seen urgently?

If your problem is urgent, you will still be offered a same-day appointment with our emergency team.

What if my illness doesn’t fit into one of the boxes on the form?

No problem – the form is a free-text box where you can describe your symptoms in your own words.
Please include as much detail as possible to help us understand your needs.

Will you review how the new system is working?

Yes. We will monitor waiting times, appointment availability, and patient feedback to assess how the system is working.
We’re committed to making improvements based on what we learn.

When will the online form be available each day?

The form will be open Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Occasionally, we may close the form earlier if demand becomes too high and we cannot safely accept more requests.
If this happens, you can still call us between 8:00am and 6:30pm if your problem is urgent.

How will I hear back from you after submitting the form?

We will contact you based on the nature of your query and the contact details we have on file.
You may receive a response by:

  • Phone call
  • Text message (with a booking link if applicable)
  • Email

If you can’t use the online forms , simply call us, and we’ll help you .
